Symbols and Numbers offers software and services in fields related to mathematical optimization and simulation. The main focus lies on problems that are part of discrete mathematics and therefore describe decision problems. These tasks select from a big bunch of possiblilities those that are optimal with respect to a given objective function.
Included is such problems are the determination of plant locations, the search for shortest paths and tours, assignment of workers to machines, the best combination of overlapping choices and many more.
In order to solve these tasks, Symbols and Numbers makes use of methods of mathematics, operations research and simulation technology - and also develops new methods and algorithms, if no standard approach succeeds.
For teaching purposes or for customers that want to solve their problems themselves, we offer the software graph solutions. This tool is written in Mathematica`s own programming language and provides efficient algorithms for almost all problems in the field of graph theory. Naturally, individual algorithms from graph theory are available in other programming languages.
For simulations, Symbols and Numbers uses the software tool Simplex3 that has its foci in the field of simulation of systems and the simulation of moving objects. The distribution of this tool is in preparation.
